Slider must work in IE8. You mean slider not displaying in IE8? I dont think this is theme issue it may be other issue but this theme is not fully compatible with IE8.

I think you have customize the code ? I found that search is also not working and the hover of sub menu too is also not working. We recommended not to change the code. I found that the slider is not working on Chrome also and too Firefox.
