1.8 upgrade erased/lost/? all of my widgets

    Upgraded to CR 1.8 and lost all of my widgets. Now when I go to Appearance/Widgets I have all of the widgets listed along the right side but they not longer have anything in them. So the pages now all show up without the predefined widgets. I am using the sidebar and widget manager by OTW (which I think is just an upgrade for the one included with the theme). My upgrade from 1.6 to 1.7 went without a hitch. Don’t understand what might be the problem this time or where to look in my backup for the widget definitions. I have tried going back to 1.7 by restoring the directory from my backup but the widgets are no longer attached to it either.

    Any help or suggestions you have would be appreciated.

    I have more information and I am no longer in a hurry for the answer. So upon updating to CR pro 1.8 all of my pre-defined widgets had their contents either rearranged or move out entirely and made inactive. Most of my stuffing for the widgets were remove and added to the inactive list. I had to manually move all of the inactive widgets back into their proper containers. That fixed most of my issues but I don’t understand why this happened.

    We always recommended you to make a backup before updating to the latest version of our theme. If you have not customized any code then your content will not be lost. IF you customized any code then all your customization code will be lost. So we always prefer to make a child theme before making any changes in the core file.
