I have experienced the same type of malicious hacking on my site (http://lumiere-instant.net). My host provider (ovh.com) has a robot monitoring activities on servers and when detecting a suspicious script, kills the script and changes site permission to 700, making it in effect inaccessible through a browser, but accessible via ftp. THois ahas allowed me to actually clean up my site. This was a long process, and several type I reverted the permissions to allow public access to my pages, only to see my site back to 700, due to another suspicious execution.

I used several tools to clean up my site. One was sucuri plugin, another antivirus. But in the end, the most effective tool was my local avast antivirus. You should install it if, you don’t have it yet (free), and then dowload your whole site via ftp. Avast quarantines each suspicious file and gives you a message. You can then delete those files from your site.

Be very careful, though. If you were attacked in the same way I was, there are two types of infections. 1. Files that are added, with names such as “wp-conf.php” (config files for wp are wp-config.php), or wpextract.php, and others. These files start with a if(isset=x) where x is a complex variable like x334p, for instance, and then have a reg-replace command with a very long hexadecimal chain. These files should be deleted completely.

2. Some legitimate files have lines added to them at the very beginning, that is, before the comment section that gives the version of the script and its function. It is relatively short, and contains the eval command again with hexadecimal code. These snippets must be deleted from the file, but the file itself mustn’t be deleted. Easy because the snippet is in between its own <?php ?>

I also upgraded all of my plugins to their latest version. I activated the firewall offered by my Host provider. If yours doesn’t offer that, you may want to consider Sucuri’s firewall.

Also I activated all of the “hardening” options from the Sucuri plugin.

Also, one important thing. I had other old, demoted, static sites on my servers (non wordpress sites). The hackers had also populated these folders with virus files. You must clean EVERY file from your root directory. Personally, I removed old folder entirely. I also removed the themes I didn’t use. Making your web space as simple as possible will help maintenance and security.

Hope that helps. For now, this is the first morning in a week that my site is not blocked after an attack attempt during the night. So I am thinking that maybe I have succeeded at getting rid of all the malware. But only time will tell if I am not overoptimistic.

Finally, I would strongly suggest that you change your admin and ftp passwords, and make the new one very complex.

I received notice from my webhost that there is a security vulnerability with Slider Revolution Premium Plugin and that I need to upgrade to verison 4.6.5. Can you please advise as to how I can do this? The plugin will be deactivated soon by my host if not updated.

Yes our theme is compatible with wordpress version 4.0.1, You may face the problem because of some issues like you have customize the code or if you have customized the core wordpress file and also due to some plugins conflict. So deactivate all the plugins you have in your dashboard.

Hi!, I didn’t modified it! I just installed impact builder plugin in order to have a landing page and Woocommerce. Do you think that could be the problem? I’ve deactivated these plugins to see if I could fix the links issue but everything is the same. I’ll complete erase them and see what happen.

Yes exactly version 1.7 include the update to the revolution slider security issue too.
first of all download the zip theme(attitude-pro) and then first unzip the file and rename it(attitude-pro-v-1.7.0) rename it. After renaming it zip the file
Then go to dashboard-> appearance-> themes-> add new
and upload that zip theme. The same two theme will be shown there and preview the theme. You can find the new one with its latest version after clicking on Theme details.(You can identify it from the latest version). You latest version is 1.7
Then active the latest version.
Delete the old version of the theme.

Or simply you can delete the old theme and upload the zip file with latest version too and activate it. Then it works.
If you have not changed any code then nothing will be lost or if you have a child theme then no worry about loss of data but if you have customised any of the code then the customised code will be lost.

So we always recommended to take a backup of your theme and also the database to be safe from data loss.

I activated the parent theme as you suggested, and indeed the responsive menu shows up … I have plenty I can do with the parent theme, but I know I’m going to want to customize it with a child theme before long – would you expect the responsive menu to work with a child theme? Is there a “right” way to set up a child theme with Interface Pro?

i just deactivate the Columns plugins. Now its working fine. You can see there in your site. I just added the promotional bar as in our demo site. There is a plugins conflict so you are facing sure error.

If you have the latest version the you can update it from the ftp too. Just login to the ftp details from filezilla or any other ftp. First unzip the slider plugins.

Go to public_html -> theme folder (interface-pro) -> wp-content -> plugins and paste or upload revolution slider. If there is already exists revolution slider then first of all delete the revolution slider and then after upload a new version. After doing it activate it from your dashboard and you will have a new version of revolution slider in your dashboard.

There may be some plugins conflict. At first please deactivate all the plugins and check it once. Whether it works or not. If still there is some problem then just create a new post and post in this forum.
