I am trying to display the results of a query in a grid (much like this tutorial) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6URWfMTsWPo
Can I use existing css to do this (ie with /* Column */ ) or do I need to creating custom css.

If you really want to add some custom CSS then you can create a child theme and add your css or overwrite the css you want.
