What is the correct image size for the featured slider in order for it to operate smoothly? The image size I have been using for the featured slider is 2000×1333. If this is too big, please suggest the correct size.

There is no any recommended sizes for the image on the slider. Any sizes are made to fit responsibly with the slider. But we recommend you to use the size of 1280 x 720. And please try to use the online image Compressor before updating the images on Sites. The compressor will help you to reduce to the maximum possible memory size of the image without affecting the quality of image. No worries. You can use any applications to compress the images. Here we just meant to say was before updating the images to the site try to compress the images which will help to load and render the site faster.
