Hi there. I would like to change the social media icons. I have created ‘on’ and ‘off’ state graphics and placed them in the themes/images folder – do I have to do anything else (on other files) or should everything just work?
Are you trying to change the currently available social media icons or trying to add new one. If you are trying to replace the current one then you can simply replace the icon with your own image with same name as of previous one but you have to do this via child theme if you don’t want to lose your changes.
Hi there, I have changed my social media icons, named them the same as the previous ones and uploaded them to the theme images directory,cleared browser cache etc but they are not showing up? The old ones show up still. Do I need to activate them or do something from within WP theme?

Just add the images with the same name as we are using in our theme. But you need to create a child theme to bev safe from the lose of data before making any changes on it. After creating the child theme and then activate the child theme.
IF you are not getting the images and still original image is displayed then you have done something wrong. So you need to hire a developer to fix the issue.
