So I am trying to set up my home page similar to the Attitude theme(I have the theme installed), but I am quite new at this. I am just switching over from Google Sites, which is quite simplistic, so I thought I might ask for some help on many different topics instead of creating a bunch of threads. Feel free to skip some of these or just tell me that it is too complicated, etc. if you don’t think it is easily done. My Web Site is
1. How can I add a header image (below horizontal nav) for the home page only?
2. I seem to have lost the gray vertical bars on the side, how can I get them back similar to the default? This also seems to make the header image occupy the entire width of the site, which I don’t really want.
3. How do they add the blue and gray text boxes to the image/below the image?
4. In the body of the page, there are circular images next to each category such as elegant designs. How is this done? I assume it is quite difficult.
5. In this portion of the body with these images, it is in three columns. How can I make only part of the page in multiple columns?
6. How can I make a similar footer to what the theme has with navigation, tags, and about attitude theme?
I thank you all very much for any tips you may be able to give me.

Just follow this theme instruction to set up the home page as in our demo site.
https://www.themehorse.com/theme-instruction/attitude/You will be able to implement as in our demo site. If you want other than this then its need code customisation and you need to hire a developer.
1>–> You can’t add header image below horizontal nav. It need’s code customisation. So you need to hire a developer.
2>–> Which grey vertical bar are you talking? If you select the business template then there will not be any sidebar presence.
3>–> Go to dashboard -> appearance -> theme options -> advance options -> home slogan options (You will be able to add slogan from here)
4>–> To have this first of all you need to assign a business template from the home page. Go to pages -> home -> edit it, At the right side there is template and select the business page template. After this create a multiple pages you want to display in a circular box as in our demo. Under each page add title, description and featured image and click on publish. Do the same process for other too.
After creating all the pages go to the dashboard -> appearance -> widgets then add services widgets to business page sidebar. After adding select the page you want to display. Then it will display as in our demo.5>–> This feature is not available so it needs code customisation and you need to hire a developer.
6>–> There is a footer sidebar inside dashboard -> appearance -> widgets, You just add the Custom menu widgets, Theme Horse: Custom Tag Cloud widgets and text widgets.1 thing while code customisation first make a child theme and unhook the functions and only after this customise the code in your child theme. So that while updating to our new version you will be safe from lost of your customisation code.
Hope this may help you.
Thank you!
November 7, 2014 at 8:32 pm #18313thecedarsrcParticipantThank you so much for the help, it really was beneficial. I only really have a few more questions remaining.
1. I know I already asked, but I feel like there must be some way to match the format on the Attitude home page with the image, if anyone can help. How are you able to get the image below the horizontal nav and on only one page? I just want a home page with an image and a navigation bar above it; I don’t want the image to repeat on every page.
2. How do you get the text on the image? It looks like the slogan text, although one of the boxes is gray, but it is on the image itself.
3. On my home page there is a category uncategorized section. It seems like a blog post thing, but it wasn’t there before I changed the page template to business. Is there any way to get rid of this?

How are you able to get the image below the horizontal nav and on only one page? I just want a home page with an image and a navigation bar above it; I don’t want the image to repeat on every page.==> You may use slider to display the image below the nav but just use only one image. If you use more than one image then it will rotate automatically. other wise you need code customisation. The file is inside theme folder -> library -> structure -> header-extension.php
IF you are good at coding then you may change the code.2>How do you get the text on the image? It looks like the slogan text, although one of the boxes is gray, but it is on the image itself.
–> The text you are talking about is slider text. Create any page or post and give a title and write a short description. At the below right corner there is featured image. Upload your featured image and set it to publish. Remember the id of this page. You can see the page / post id at the url and then go to dashboard -> appearance -> theme options -> featured post / page slider -> Featured Post/Page Slider Options and add the page / post id
for more info

==> You just go to the dashboard -> appearance -> widgets -> then go to business page sidebar
There is a category widgets, remove it and click on save.
Then it will be removed.Thank you!
November 13, 2014 at 6:12 pm #18478thecedarsrcParticipantOnce again, very helpful. Sorry to keep bumping this thread, but I have two minor questions to add.
I have figured out the slider, but it seems to want to cut things off. The image width seems to get cut off, is it only able to be so wide? If so, why? Also, is there a way to enlarge the text box? I only have 45 words, but it won’t fit.
Lastly, is there a way with the circular business template icons to have the text appear that doesn’t include simply writing it on the page it links to? For example, my gallery icon, I have a description written down for the home page icon, but I don’t want it to say this on the gallery page itself. Thank you.
November 13, 2014 at 6:22 pm #18479thecedarsrcParticipantOr the last line of text in the image could at least reach all the way to the left of the text box.
I also noticed that on my news blog page, the slider and slogan also appear there when I don’t want them to.
Once again, my page is thecedarsrc.com if anyone needs to see for reference.
November 14, 2014 at 8:19 am #18499Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi thecedarsrc,
The slider width isadd_image_size( 'slider-narrow', 1038, 460, true ); // used on Featured Slider on Homepage Header for narrow layout add_image_size( 'slider-wide', 1400, 460, true ); // used on Featured Slider on Homepage Header for wide layout
If you add more image size then it automatically cuts off to the new above defined size.
We have no any options to enlarge the text box. To have a simply gallary link then it needs code customisation. The code is inside theme folder -> library -> widgets -> attitude_widgets.php. If you are unable and also need other features too then you need to hire a developer to fix it.
Thank you!November 14, 2014 at 4:00 pm #18513thecedarsrcParticipantFor the business template icons; if I can’t remove the text from the linked page, is there any way I can make it link to a different page?
I just want the icons to have a couple of sentences telling what to expect on the actual page, but I don’t want the page to have that text on it. Is there any way you can think of to keep my icons and text as they are, but to link to a blank page?
November 17, 2014 at 10:15 am #18595Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi thecedarsrc,
There is not any other way to make a link to a different page. It needs code customisation. So you need to hire a developer to fix it.Thank you!
December 12, 2014 at 4:13 pm #19341thecedarsrcParticipantI apologize for bringing this back up, but I do have a few new questions and I didn’t want to create a new thread.
For the icons on the business template below the slogan, it doesn’t appear that I can make it link somewhere else; however, can I perhaps find some way to limit the amount of text that displays before the “read more” link? For example, on the gallery page, I have a gallery plugin so it displays some odd text on the home page. On the about us section, I also want to have much more text on the actual page, but I don’t want it all displayed on the home page. Any possible way to improve the aesthetics on this?
Forgive me if I have already asked this, but my home page slider/slogan also appears on my news section and I don’t want it to, any way to change this? Also, I the home page itself displays in the news blog section, any way to remove this?
December 13, 2014 at 3:34 am #19356Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi thecedarsrc,
We are sorry for this. We don’t have this feature So it needs code customization. We don’t know about the gallery plugins too. We have our own gallery in our pro version Which you may check in our demo site too. You may increase the excerpt length by changing it in code because we recommended you to never change the code because if you customize the code then while updating to our new version all your customization code will be lost. So always make the child theme before customizing the code.Thank you!
December 19, 2014 at 5:34 pm #19560thecedarsrcParticipantI now you can edit how much text displays under the icons with css, but I have a specific issue that I don’t understand with that. I have three of the widgets with enough text that it gets cut off, but they all seem to stop at different positions. As you can see in the third column, it goes one line below the others. Why is this? How can I fix it so they are uniform?
December 22, 2014 at 8:31 am #19627Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi thecedarsrc,
This text stops from the excerpt. Excerpt counts the words not the letter. You can only change the words in Pro version too not the counting letter. If you want other than it then it needs code customisation.Thank you!
