How can I make a slider like your preview site (https://www.themehorse.com/preview/ambition-pro/)?
I’d like to customize “Featured Content Setting” to make slider just like preview site. Can I make it without any plug-in? If possible, please let me know the way.
Many thanks

What do you need to make the page/post slider work? An additional slider plugin or should it work out out of the box?
Thanks from my side as well 🙂

Marcus @info173 We have integrated four slider into to this theme. 1. Default Slider, 2.Post/Page Slider, 3. Image Slider, and 4. Revolution Slider
To set the Featured Post/Page Slider follow the instruction below:
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Ambition Pro Theme Options > Featured Content Setting.
- Select slider type to Post/Page Slider as shown in below screenshot.
- Select Slider Status to Home Page or Enable on all Page.
- Select ON/OFF to show the Slider Content display for small devices.
- Select Transition Effect and Enter Transition Delay/Duration.
- Select Left/Middle/Right Align for featured text position.
- Enter the Number of Slides then click on Save & Publish button to activate the Post/Page slider options and go one step back to Ambition Pro Theme Options (Appearance > Customize > Ambition Pro Theme Options) and refresh the page and click on Post/Page Slider options and add Post/Page ID accordingly to all the slides that you have set and click on Save & Publish button

Thanks for your prompt response. I have followed your instructions above until the last bullet point. I require the slider to appear on my home page only.
Something which is not yet clear to me, is how to find out the Post/Page ID.
Just our of curiousity, I put the number 1 to 5 under Ambition Pro Theme Options-> Page/Post Slider -> Featured Slider Post/Page # 1 (up to Post/Page 5).
I was positively surprised when the featured image of my page “Auftragsarbeiten” appeared on the home page, plus an excerpt of the article. It had a button “read more”. If clicked, that button would take me to the page (which itself does not show the featured picture, which is exactly what I want).
However, I do not understand, why it was that page (and no other) that now showed up on my home page.
From what I did, I think, it requires
a) that the page has a “featured image”. Without a featured image, nothing is displayed.
At this point, I had configured 5 slides (that was the number I used for the function “image slider” before).
However, on the homepage only the page “Auftragsarbeiten” (sorry for the long word) was displayed. Neither on the left or the right marging a “<” or a “>” appeared allowing my to scroll through the other slides. Which brings me to my
Question 1:
How do I tell which post has which ID? When I look at the page, I do not see a “page ID” anywhere?Question 2:
Why are there no “>” and “<” displayed in order to scroll sideways?Trying our further setting, I came across another observation: without changing any setting, except the setting for “no of slides”. I reduced this from 5 to 2, just to make it easier for me. Being in the Customizer section, the slider that was shown when I had configured 5 slides, disappeared and left me with my text-only home page. I increased the “no of slides” to 3, still no slide. Only when I changed it to 4 or higher, the slide “Auftragsarbeiten” was displayed.
Question 3:
Why is no slide displayed on my home page, unless I set the “no of slides” to 4 or higher?I guess all questions are connected somehow, mainly because I do no know how to find out this strange Page/Post ID in the first place…
I have reverted the setting to “Image Slider” again, as I do not want my customers to see the result of “Page/Post slider” in the mean time. Should you require it in order to assist me further, I am happy to turn it back on.
Many thanks and kind regards
MarcusJanuary 19, 2017 at 9:59 am #49460Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi Marcus,
To have post/page id download Reveal IDs plugin. Go to specific page you will find post/ page id.I was positively surprised when the featured image of my page “Auftragsarbeiten” appeared on the home page, plus an excerpt of the article. It had a button “read more”. If clicked, that button would take me to the page (which itself does not show the featured picture, which is exactly what I want).
=> Yes featured image will not be displayed on detail page/single page. If you want page then you can add it on editor.
Question 1:
How do I tell which post has which ID? When I look at the page, I do not see a “page ID” anywhere?
=> To have post/page id download Reveal IDs plugin. Go to specific page you will find post/ page id.Question 2:
Why are there no “>” and “<” displayed in order to scroll sideways?
=> Do you means to preview and next button on slider to scroll. We don’t have this options and its not necessary to have preview and next button. So we have not added it on our theme.
Question 3:
Why is no slide displayed on my home page, unless I set the “no of slides” to 4 or higher?
=> Its because you have not added a correct slider id.Please provide your site address so that we can help you further.
Thank you

NOW I have understood. NOW I have succeeded in making my front page work in the way I want it to 🙂
re question 2: With that knowledge, my wish for “<” and “>” are now obsolete.
re question 3: It now works with “no of slides” < 3 as well 😉May I suggest that you add a hint somewhere in your documentation indicating that you should install the Reveal IDs plugin? For people like me who are slightly knowledgeable but not professional in WordPress, I guess that would be a big help.
Thank you + kind regards
MarcusJanuary 23, 2017 at 6:54 am #49525Theme Horse Support TeamKeymasterHi Marcus,
That’s the plugin territory and we follow WordPress guidelines. We cannot add that feature in our theme. If you like to know without installing plugin then you goto specific page/post and hover on edit page. You will see link at the bottom left of the page. You can see the numeric value and that’s the page/post id.
Also if you click that page/post and at the status bar you will be able to see numeric value as
http://abc.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit
where 2 is the id of this page.Thank You
