We would like the subtitle- where it says “7-8 January 2016, St Anne’s College, University of Oxford” which is just below the title “HUMAN ENHANCEMENT AND THE LAW: REGULATING FOR THE FUTURE” to be larger than it is now, as it can be hard to notice.

How can we increase the size or prominence of this using this theme?

Hi Imogen,
Go to Appearance -> customize -> Design Options -> Custom CSS paste the following CSS code and Click on save all changes button:

#site-description{
   font-size: 20px;
}

You can increase or decrease the numeric value 20 to increase or decrease the font size.
