Hi Theme Horse,
Chrome isn’t rendering the HR line under the homepage image, while Safari renders it just fine.

My homepage images are 3600 x 1200 @72 dpi, which are a little large. Should I be looking at the image to resolve it, or is there a CSS setting which determines the color and placement of the border-bottom of the image?

Sorry! Both the Chrome and the Safari browser are rendering the HR line under the homepage image.
Please check it in different PC once and let us know.
