I see the Read More button extremely unnecessary for me, because my posts are short. Is there any way I can remove it? A piece of CSS code? I want also to remove the blank space between the button and the line that separates each post. Thanks!

Could you provide your site Url too? It would be more easy to find the solution.
Go to Appearance -> Theme Options -> Design Options Tab -> Custom CSS paste the following CSS code and Click on save all changes button:

a.readmore, a.more-link{
  display:none;
}
