First, I’m new to wordpress, so this may be a very basic question. I started setting up the site and page IDs were part of the URL. Later made the switch to page name.

E.g.
was: http://www.domain.com/?page_id=91
now: http://www.domain.com/contact

When I had page_id, my content was showing up. Now everything is 404 and I can’t get back.

I suppose there must be another step or something to map the old content to the new urls.

I think you set it from dashboard -> reading -> permalink

from there you can set it to page id or post id you want.

Yes after you set it to page name then it will not display in page_id so it gets error so if you want it again page id then you may change the permalink as default.
