Google News is a PITA to get working. I eventually managed it
Use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/gn-publisher/
the guy who wrote it is an expert in news feeds.that said I’m having minor probs with it not always displaying featured images in GN.
the5krunner.comParticipantthe issue might be that you do not have the AMP set to standard.
doing that fixes a LOT of formatting issues with videos, images and tablesthe5krunner.comParticipant“All you have to do is, you have to wrap the respective element with a specific class code to work as responsive.” so that means it isn’t fully responsive as manual coding is required !
it is impossible to remember to do this and impossible to check over 3000 historic posts!
also these display issues that need to be manually fixed seem to happen when not using full AMP mode (ie when using READER or Transitional)

1. AMP home page: when you display featured images you display a large image and resize it to the smaller size. this can create a massive payload for the browser to load. You need to sever the appropriate image for the
2. it looks like when you display featured images the height and width are not specified. this means that lazyloading plugins will not work for that image. they need both dimension attributes.the5krunner.comParticipantthank you!
question put another way
1. can i exactly replicate my site using Meta News
2. Which is h faster theme of the two? (and why)the5krunner.comParticipanthi
tywhatever i have done since has made this go away,
it was the same behaviour on virtually any page apart from a review page/
the5krunner.comParticipantok ty, i prefer to use width=100%
however when i switch to full AMP mode my ad system starts to display ads for subscribers
in transitional it’s ok.
not your problem i guess but these things should work consistently.

gtmetrix reportOctober 24, 2021 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Featured Image not serving as WEBP, other images incorrectly served #93541the5krunner.comParticipantactually just checked my gtmetric reports and, as you can see, you are still serving huge images even tho the cdn and webp version is used.
see this image as explanation
https://the5krunner.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Capture-3.jpg
the images should be MUCH smaller in physical dimensions and about a quarter of the KB size (or even a smaller fraction)

I see you have recently released an official update to the ThemeI notice it says that you have made speed changed to the featured image displayed on the home page for each post.
Can you say exactly what change has been made please? ie is the correct size of web file served, if available? if so – #AWESOME.
the5krunner.comParticipantperfect!
the5krunner.comParticipanti have the same issue.
If you have ads that are embedded into your content then they could be causing the majority of the problem so in that case talk to your ad provider and/or remove ads from the body of the content
readers can easily choose READER mode and bypass your ads…don’t give them a reason.
