TonyParticipant
No – I have not modified the Attitude theme itself – only via a child theme.
However, I am glad to report that this issue went away on its own. I don’t know what it was about or what fixed it but I have not seen it for some good while, so I propose we close this request.
Apologies for troubling you if it was not a theme issue – it did look like it the time.Tony
TonyParticipantThank you – just what I needed.
Excellent support as ever!
TonyParticipantThat’s all fine now and gone live.
Thanks for your great help.
Tony
TonyParticipantThat’s fixed the search field so it is on the same line as the search button – great!
The Order by: label is still above the dropdown menu rather than to its left as in Twenty Sixteen. Is it possible to fix that too?
thank you, Tony
TonyParticipantBrilliant! The first worked.
My test site is now back on Attitude (actually via my Attitude Child theme). The search field is on a line above the button and also the Order By: is on a line above the select box. This uses unnecessary vertical space. With the Twenty Sixteen theme the search field appears on the same line as the search button and the Order by: label on the same line and before the select box. I think Attitude should follow this arrangement.
If you feel this is beyond your support duty, could you give me some pointers what to do or where to look?
thank you for your excellent help.
September 28, 2016 at 9:20 am in reply to: All search results from BuddyPress Global Search plugin appearing in plain text #47316TonyParticipantThank you for this. I have included a modified version of attitude_theloop_for_search() in a child theme and all works as required.
Question: given that standard themes such as Twenty Sixteen worked without modification (presumably displaying the_content() rather than the-excerpt()), will you be changing this in a future update to Attitude or will you stick with how it is now?
I ask so I can keep an eye open for when/whether I should remove my custom version.
thanks again, Tony
September 27, 2016 at 12:51 pm in reply to: All search results from BuddyPress Global Search plugin appearing in plain text #47294TonyParticipantThanks for getting back to me. I have deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress, bbPress and BuddyPress Global Search and I still have the problem.
- Screen shot showing search suggestions (correct)
- Screen shot showing all results (in plain ext)
- Screen shot of same using Twenty Sixteen theme showing all results correctly
Any further suggestions, please?
November 15, 2015 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Blank header image being displayed in Profile since BuddyPress 2.4.0 #39617TonyParticipantThank you ! THat’s just what I need. I had not spotted the new option in Settings>BuddyPress>Settings Settings tab.
Now I just need a way of suppressing a blank cover image while displaying those that exist ?
November 13, 2015 at 2:36 pm in reply to: Blank header image being displayed in Profile since BuddyPress 2.4.0 #39552TonyParticipantHi…
I realised that this feature was updated in BuddyPress 2.4.0.My question is where should it be fixed for sites with no header image? Does it require a fix in the theme to account for 2.4.0, or should it be fixed in BuddyPress?
Your further advice awaited! thanks
July 13, 2015 at 1:02 pm in reply to: bbPress 'edit topic comment' form not displaying in Attitude #26386TonyParticipantYes – that fixes it.
Thank you for your support – excellent!
July 13, 2015 at 5:17 am in reply to: bbPress 'edit topic comment' form not displaying in Attitude #26363TonyParticipantWell it works very well with BuddyPress and bbPress apart from this problem.
As I said, things work fine with standard theme such as 2010.
With Attitude, editing a bbPress topic works fine, while editing a bbPress comment does not. Instead of displaying the edit field it lists the comment as if in a list of posts complete with a Read more… button. I believe the theme is loading the wrong template in this case. Can you give me any pointers about where to look to fix this?
I have had a lot of compliments about the look of the site, by the way, which is here
thanks, Tony
July 13, 2015 at 4:59 am in reply to: bbPress 'edit topic comment' form not displaying in Attitude #26358TonyParticipantHi – thanks for checking.
No it is not solved and I do not know how to progress this.
I can supply screen shots if required and you advise how to send them.

July 6, 2015 at 7:50 pm in reply to: bbPress 'edit topic comment' form not displaying in Attitude #26228TonyParticipantPS to clarify:
Editing a topic itself works fine – it is only editing a comment which does not.
Both types of edit display the topic/comment in an edit field and the topic text displays OK. So the problem is not with displaying the edit field, which is the same as that used successfully elsewhere with this theme, but rather with using the wrong template, IMHO.
TonyParticipantSupport… thank you for responding.
Yes, I have an actual page ovni-users.org.uk/register/ and I had set it as the register page in BuddyPress settings. I am not sure why putting the bbpress forum short code on it would help, but I have tried it with no effect. I also tried putting the [bbp-register] code on it and no effect.
I have now tried setting the BuddyPress register page to none but leaving the [bbp-register] on the page. In this case I get a minimal register form without the BuddyPress fields but on a full width page with no sidebar as specified on my Attitude page settings. So in this case, the no sidebar option for this page is working. [But this is not a solution as I need the BuddyPress extended profile login stuff.]
With my page set as the BuddyPress register page, I have tried deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and the register page has the sidebar still, so it is not a case of some other plugin causing the problem.
I conclude that BuddyPress is generating its register page in a way that overrides the Attitude page layout selection for that page.
Any further advice will be most welcome.
TonyParticipantThat’s it! Thank you for your excellent support.
